POSE workshop in the night of Black Lace, Rauma

City of Rauma organizes traditionally every year Week of Lace event and one night is called "Night of Black Lace". People wear black lace, hang around city and have good time. I visited this event for the first time last year and fell in love with Old Rauma. This year I organized with Camera Club of Rauma POSE photography workshop in that night. Dress code for POSE workshop was naturally black lace :)
We had workshop and demonstrations in Old Rauma... of course.
POSE workshop began with few demonstrations about posing. We had appr. 1,5 hours and we walked around city.
Meeting Mr. Dedo, CRI and CRLS
I got great opportunity to meet one of the legends, Mr. Dedo Weigert this week. I participated Dedolight Agent Meeting in Munich this week.
We had three days full program about products, technologies, theories etc. Mr. Dedo kept on going even seminar room was as hot as tropical island. We younger ones were amazed :)
You could feel his enthusiasm, passion and knowledge. It reminded me very much of certain photography school and it's founder in Finland :)Read more
Addams Family Lighting set-up
The biggest photo shoot for POSE - Position and guidance of the model" was done at the end of April in Helsinki. There were 20 people doing family photos for the book. We began to plan this photo shoot last January. Make-up artist-students Alina Välimäki and Pihla Valli practiced make-ups, we were looking for models and location. I wen several time to Tampere Theatre to find costumes and props. Even though guidebook is about posing, for me photography is always also about lighting :)
Lighting set-up – only because woman wants to
I decided with my team (make-up artist-students Alina Välimäki and Pihla Valli and their teacher Tanja Haverinen) that theme for this shoot is Addams Family. Theme was suitable for Alina and Pihla to do their vocational examination in theatre masking.
For me it was clear from the beginning that I wanted to use hard light, cookie lighting and use continuous light sources (Dedolight 100W Tungsten). Just because I thought it was cool :) And only few days before shooting we found perfect location and all was set.Read more

More about lighting set-up later.
On the streets of Bergamo
I had great opportunity to spend few days in Italy, Bergamo a week ago. Great friends, great action –and same time looking around, observe and press the button :) I just love to walk around and see everything around me. All the people, places, situations, colours etc. You name it. You see so much while walking around, even in your hometown.
Why I was in Bergamo? –Read previous blog :)
Masterclass Photography workshop in Bergamo, Italy - part I
Yesterday I got back from Bergamo, Italy from our Masterclass Photography workshop.
After two years of workshops in Finland Masterclass wanted to travel together abroad to experience light in different country. We chose Bergamo. I still remember when we were all in Skype before Christmas and booked flights and accommodation online. After clicking "booked" feeling was surreal – we did it. We were on our way :)
Last Friday trip finally began. We took off to Bergamo. I know some of you have followed our trip through Facebook status updates. I'm glad you've lived our happy moments with us :)
Like Henri Cartier-Bresson said "Seeing is everything". We sensed, breath, tasted, touched and saw Italy. We talked, we shared. Tomi said yesterday - "Now it's time to digest all." But still I want to share some moments with you. More later.
I just love it that Oscar took his family with us. Children Kevin and Emilia were great - they helped us, they were models and best of all – they made us laugh. And sometimes run.
Guidebook for Light & lighting in Portraiture was awarded by FPPA
I got surprised last Monday on FPPA's event. Guidebook for Light & lighting in Portraiture valued highly in FPPA that association awarded me as "Member of the Year". I'm happy that professional photographers value my book so high. I'm happy and pleased in the middle of association's CEO Anna Kaleva-Tsagklas and president Juha Harju.
Member of the Year Award is FPPA's annual award. Award is given to a FPPA member who has done something significant to promote and boost professional photography in Finland or association's cause.Read more
Masterclass Photography Workshop - LOL, light & Lightroom
Masterclass Photography Workshop agenda this time – LOL, light and Lightroom.
For the first time we didn't have qualification pressure –we just gathered to have fun. And our idea of fun: Saturday whole day shooting , testing LEDs, continuous light sources and in the evening Lightroom workshop all the way to midnight. On Sunday to to studio at 9 o'clock and afternoon family-video.
And this is just the beginning –Let's enjoy feelings :D
Images, test results and video will be seen later at FPPA's Spring Update in Tampere March, 31st, 2014. You're all welcome :) (ok, later on more in my blog too :D)
Classic group photo. If there were sound on it, it would be laugh and joy.
From left: Oscar Lindell (Studio Lindell, Porvoo), Sami Reivinen (Valokuvaamo KLIK, Tampere), me, Johanna Uusitalo (Foto-Friitala, Ulvila) and Tomi Kallio (Valokuvaamo Potretti, Orimattila).
High key lighting and white background - theme for FPPA's workshop
As a member of Finnish Professional Photographers' Association I was privileged to do a workshop for other FPPA's members. Theme of the day was high key lighting, white light and white background. To celebrate "White Day" I wore white shirt :D (nothing to do with that fact that I haven't have time to laundry...)
At first demo I created high key lighting with classic Rembrandt lighting.
Make, shoot & eat - photography tips to food bloggers
Looks delicious, right? And it was.
On Monday I ended up to give photography tips to two food bloggers. I just love bloggers enthusiasm towards photography –they just shoot and shoot. They already know their problems and they want to have straight and detailed advice. Keep it simple and straightforward.
I was invited to Johanna's home in Pori. Her blog "Life between stove and wineglass" presents delicious recipes and tips for wine, and between, some personal projects. Another blogger Anna presents her lovely cakes and bakings in her blog "Sugar Crumbs". We began day by tasting one of Johanna's new recipes: delicious muffins with chorizo and blue cheese. Great start :D
Even though it was morning and we got some daylight, we closed all the curtains and demonstrate how to shoot, you don't have enough daylight. Very common situation for bloggers, especially if you live in Finland and shoot after work.
